Iris ‘Having Fun’ (sibirica)
Clive Russell has been an Iris fan for most of his life, his interest and expertise leading him to membership of the RHS Iris Committee. He has a particular interest in the Space Age Bearded Iris, of which he has bred several varieties and has also been collecting Siberian Iris for some time. His collection of Siberian Irises contains particularly doubles and those varieties bred by Schafer and Sachs in America. These latter types he had been importing from the USA before EU phytosanitory regulations made the process practically unachievable.
Early last year, following a conversation over the purchase of Iris 'Having Fun' at a Plant Heritage sale, Clive said that he would be splitting through his collection and offered us the chance of taking on some splits to bring on for sale. We jumped at the chance. Clive's generosity with both plants and his knowledge have really fired up our enthusiasm for these lovely plants and it is a part of our range that I think will be increasing as the years progress.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Clive for reintroducing us to Iris in so generous a way and for his editorial input into some of my writing on Iris.
